2022 Community Impact Report
Goal 1: Host more events in more locations across the Santa Cruz Mountains
We're proud to share that we set all-new records for number of annual events, hours completed, and number of trails served.
That’s a ton of year-over-year growth! We saw a 150% increase in unique volunteers, 267% increase in volunteer hours, 170% increase in number of events, and 73% growth in locations as compared to last year.
This success can be attributed to our rockstar stewardship team, Katie, Emma, and Drew, our professional trail crew, as well as our above-and-beyond volunteer SCMTS Trail Sages.
Goal 2: Grow a more diverse base of volunteers
Historically, our volunteer demographics lacked diversity. In 2022, we continued our concerted effort to grow a diverse volunteer base that more closely resembles the community of trail users we see locally.
Last year, we saw:
While we're reaching a more diverse audience with our events, there's still room for growth. This year, we’re focusing on growing our accessibility to the Latino community.
Key takeaway: Our events are representing a more diverse audience than in the past.
While there's still more work to be done, we're proud to see that we're on the right track. Onward!
Goal 3: Create meaningful impact for our community & the trails
We measured impact on community members through self-reported post-event ratings.
99% of volunteers rated our events a 4 or 5 out of 5.
96% of volunteers felt extremely valued, and the remaining 4% felt very valued.
