On February 24 we headed back into Soquel Demonstration State Forest for a Dig Day sponsored by Trail Head Cyclery! We had about 90 volunteers working on Flow Trail Segments 1 and 2, where we fixed drainage issues, patched up some of the berms, and dealt with seeps/springs that popped up during the rainy winter.
It was awesome having Lars Thomsen, owner of Trail Head Cyclery, out digging with us! Lars opened his shop in 1997 with his dad, and since his shop is mountain bike focused, giving back to trails is especially important to him. He said Sunday was a "beautiful day to be supporting the Dig Day with Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz!" Trail Head is an awesome shop at a new location in Cupertino, so make sure to swing by and give Lars a high five for us!
We were also happy to have Devin Carlson, co-founder of Archer Components, out there! Archer Components stepped up with a pretty important sponsorship this Dig Day season. They're covering the cost of the beer you get to enjoy as your post-work refreshments! Devin said the Flow Trail is "our testing ground for Archer Components. This is where we test all of our shifters and hardware. Having the best trails and the best place to test allows our products to be the best."
Thanks to everybody who joined us for a great day of digging. Once this rain stops, Flow Trail will be running so good because to your hard work!
