Glenwood Preserve Trails Project Moving Forward
April 24, 2018

Three miles of new public multi-use trails are coming to the western portion of the Glenwood Open Space Preserve in Scotts Valley. Last week the Scotts Valley City Council approved a plan that will provide local schools and the community a new resource for recreation and connection with the environment. The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, responsible for stewarding the property, has partnered with MBOSC to perform the trail design and construction.
MBOSC has scheduled three weekly volunteer trail work opportunities and is seeking partners and volunteers to join the effort. Each work session on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be led by MBOSC staff and Trail Crew Leaders, who have completed a six-part course on trail design, construction, and volunteer management. Trail work volunteers do not need any prior trail work experience, and MBOSC will provide all necessary tools and equipment. MBOSC is partnering with Scotts Valley High School to encourage students to attend after-school trail work sessions. Find out how to get involved and sign up to volunteer at mbosc.org/glenwood.
“We are excited to bring new, fun, and sustainable trails to the Scotts Valley community,” said Drew Perkins, MBOSC Trails Program Director. “These trails will be a great recreational resource for local hikers, runners, and mountain bikers, and they will provide Scotts Valley High School with an ideal, safe place for their cross country and mountain biking teams to practice and train.”
