Glenwood Update & Trail Work

We are moving full steam ahead on the Glenwood Open Space Preserve trail project in Scotts Valley! These trails will provide local schools and the community a new resource for recreation and connection with the environment. The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, responsible for stewarding the property, has partnered with MBOSC to perform the trail design and construction. The map at the bottom of this page shows our progress so far and what we have left to build.
We started construction at the end of April and have completed 11,282' of trail, which is about 2.14 miles! It's taken a lot of help to make this much progress, and we're grateful for the 232 volunteers who have put in 1,074 hours of work. At this point we have completed the southern loop above Scotts Valley High School, and the northern and summit loops that take you through old growth redwoods and to the top of the property with a great view of Scotts Valley.
We still have 4,696' of trail left to build! We are now starting on the last section of trail that winds along the eastern edge of the property paralleling Glenwood Drive and connects to the future trailhead at K street just north of Scotts Valley High School. The primary work is finish work behind the excavator on the last section of trail, which includes smoothing the trail tread and backslope, fine tuning trail drainage, and naturalizing the trail.

Saturday Specials - Weekend Trail Work
We are offering some fun weekend volunteer trail work opportunities that we're calling "Saturday Specials." These are more relaxed trail work sessions that our regular Dig Days. You can be home by lunch and carry on with your weekend plans!- Saturday, July 28, 8:00am - 12:00pm, followed by a BBQ and pumptrack party at the Davidsons, who live nearby! Join us for food, drinks, and pumptrack!

Regular Weekday Trail Work
Join us during our regular weekday trail work sessions. No experience necessary!- Mondays 8:30-12:30pm, 12:30-4:30pm

- Fridays 8:30-12:30pm, 12:30-4:30pm
