$21,200 Raised for Trails & Announcing the Lucky Hakka MX Winner

August 29, 2018
We are excited to report that we raised $21,200 in the "Support Trails & Win a Hakka MX" fundraising campaign! This fundraiser was held to celebrate the Old Growth Classic, the first ever bike race in Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The Old Growth Classic was held on August 25, 2018 as a benefit for Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz and State Parks. For every $10 donated to this campaign, people were entered into a drawing for an Ibis Hakka MX, custom built with components from Easton and Praxis. We set a campaign goal of raising $18,000 to celebrate the inaugural Old Growth Classic taking place in 2018, and we are thrilled that we exceeded our goal by $3,200, raising a total of $21,200! All of this money will go directly to the work MBOSC does to build and maintain trails in Santa Cruz County. And now to announce the lucky winner... Congratulations to Bryan O’Sullivan from San Francisco! Bryan is a mountain biker who rides all over the Bay Area and Tahoe, and he donated to the campaign because he “loves our local mountain bike trail advocacy organizations, and MBOSC is one of the most effective such groups in all of California.” While Bryan is a mountain biker at heart, he’s excited to add a new gravel bike to his quiver. “I’d been thinking hard about getting a Hakka MX, so this feels like absurdly good luck. I’ll ride the bike on a combination of 40-mile commutes through the Peninsula hills and fire road rides through Marin and the Santa Cruz mountains.” The Hakka MX is a versatile bike, and Bryan is choosing to build it with 650b Easton EA70 AX wheels to optimize comfort and fun. Congratulations Bryan! We can’t wait to see you and your new Hakka MX rippin' the Santa Cruz mountain roads!
