Together, our Out of the Ashes campaign raised a staggering $185,253.25 for trails throughout California State Parks. We know it will be put to good use repairing trails throughout Big Basin, Butano, Año Nuevo and Fall Creek State Parks. If you would like to contribute to this effort (despite the raffle being closed), please click the button below to donate to our CZU Lighting Fire Recovery Fund.
Thank you to our awesome sponsors who contributed to this campaign and to all of you who donated! We had some amazing support from the community on this campaign, and would like to give a special shoutout to Edward Jones for its generous support of our rebuild efforts. In a year full of challenges, we’re feeling hopeful and excited for the future!
We are thrilled to introduce our Out of the Ashes winners... the winner of the Specialized bike is Jared Franich, a Santa Cruz local and MBOSC member, and the winner of the Ibis is Brian Tennant, a longtime MBOSC supporter located up in Spokane, WA. These two lucky winners will also be walking away with a full Giro kit, a light set from Light & Motion and full custom bike decals from Stikrd! Jared loves riding Braille Trail in SDSF, and is trying to decide between Stumpjumper EVO and the Enduro. Brian's fairly certain he's going with a Ripley fit for shredding his local trails up in Beacon Hill.
"The trails around the Santa Cruz area, as well as the rest of the Bay Area, provide tons of people with space to exercise, de-stress, have fun and enjoy themselves. Supporting the maintenance longevity of these trails is extremely important. MBOSC is a great way for people to learn about trail care/building, and also provides a great avenue for people to provide support who otherwise wouldn't know how." - Jared Franich, Specialized winner
"A few years ago I would have said, “It’s important to support trail advocacy because mountain biking is rad and is great exercise. Although I still feel this way, I now see it is a way for people to relieve stress and feel positive, which in turns transfers to a more patient, calm society. In addition it gets many people out of the house which is critical now more than ever. Supporting MBOSC means more places to ride and ensuring more open space for generations to come." - Brian Tennant, Ibis winner
