Massive Turnout for Gloria Jean Tate Park Pump Track Grand Opening!
…and boy did the community show up!
By the time 11 a.m. rolled around, there was already an entry line out to the parking lot and a crowd of kids had gathered on the start mound of the track.
To kick the festivities off we heard from Marina’s Mayor Pro Tem, Christina Medina Dirksen, a few community members, and then got a safety talk followed by a quick course demo from some of the local Mongoose race team. The ceremonial ribbon was cut and then first laps were underway!
Those that are new to pump tracks warmed up on the beginner loop while more experience riders began to find their flow on the main track. Bikes, scooters, and skateboarders of all ages showed up to get some laps in.
DJ music and the smell of tacos filled the air while raffle prizes were being handed out throughout the afternoon.
Thanks so much to the city and residents of Marina for leading the charge on making this pump track possible. We are super grateful to have been a part of the build and are incredibly excited that this outdoor resource is now open to the community. What an awesome day for the Marina community!
