MBOSC Launches New Membership Program

November 2, 2018
We are so excited to launch our new membership program knowing 100% of our member's dues will stay right here in Santa Cruz, furthering our mission of making Santa Cruz the best place to be a mountain biker. Our new program has six levels: Trail Steward, Trail Guardian, Trail Boss, Trail Champion, Trail Hero, and Trail Angel. There are exciting perks throughout, including everything from our Trail Badge to custom socks and jerseys, but possibly the most exciting reward is knowing how much this program will support our local trail building and maintenance efforts. Generous Donors Matching Membership Dues

Between now and January 31, 2019, all membership dues will matched by generous donors up to $70,000! As if that's not enough, when you become a member in that same timeframe AND sign-up for auto-renewals, you'll be entered into a drawing for the Santa Cruz Bicycles model of your choice. Entries are based on your membership level, so the higher level you pick, the better your chance of winning, and the more good you'll do for trails!

2019 Trail Badge

Coinciding with our new membership program, we also launched another cool and much needed piece to the program: the MBOSC Trail Badge. The Trail Badge is an annual sticker that supports MBOSC with twenty bucks straight towards trails. All membership levels include the Trail Badge, but you can also buy the Trail Badge by itself without becoming a member. Since not everyone is or wants to be an MBOSC member, non-members will be able to pick up a Trail Badge at our local bike shops. We encourage any user to support local trails; it will go a long way to promoting a diverse, well-maintained, and sustainable local trail network. The idea of the Trail Badge is that it becomes the norm for everyone, much like the Squamish Off Road Alliance (SORCA) Trail Pass. It's a cool sticker, it goes towards your local trails, and it's an affordable price point. Plus by proudly displaying it on your bike, water bottle, or helmet, you can guilt non-members into joining.

Local Industry Steps in to Support MBOSC Membership Program

As mentioned above, Santa Cruz Bicycles was quick to step in and support our launch with a bike raffle - every time a new member signs up for auto-renew, they are entered into a drawing the win the Santa Cruz of their dreams; the higher the level of support, the more tickets. But, they're doing much more than that. Stay tuned for exciting news from Santa Cruz Bicycles! We have invited all of our local bike shops to meet at our office this week over beer and pizza and discuss ways they too can get involved. In the future we hope to help them gain the capability to sell memberships from their stores, but for now our goal is that they can sell our new Trail Badge. Spokesman Bicycles has already offered to buy a Trail Badge for every bike in the store. We hope this will become the norm.

FAQs for Existing Members

Am I still a member of IMBA? No, when chapters leave IMBA, their members go with them. You are welcome to support IMBA through a donation, but they no longer have a general membership. How do I transfer my IMBA membership to MBOSC? We have already started that process for you! You should have received an email from us, but if not, please fill out this form so we can complete your transfer and send you a welcome package. How did you choose my new membership level with MBOSC? We rounded up to the nearest level. For example, if you were a basic member with IMBA at $39, we transferred you to our $50 Trail Champion membership. More questions? Please email [email protected].
