Meet the Winner of Our Caletti Giveaway!

June 7, 2020

Over the past few months, MBOSC and Caletti Cycles ran a campaign to support trails and give away a custom Caletti steel frame in the process. Together, we were able to raise a total of $15,592 from 437 unique donations. Thank you to all who contributed - we couldn't have done it without you! Now that the fundraiser is over, we're proud to be able to share the grand prize winner... Dave Gordon, a veterinarian from San Francisco. Congrats, Dave!

Dave regularly rides his full-suspension on trails across the bay and hits places like Skeggs, Soquel Demonstration State Forest, Nisene Marks and Wilder Ranch State Park when he's not treating animals. His favorite MBOSC trails are Emma McCrary Trail, West Engelsmans reroute, and Enchanted Loop here in Santa Cruz, and he hopes to ride the new Sawpit Trail reroute up in SDSF soon. Dave's favorite place to ride is up in North Lake Tahoe. He loves losing himself in the vast, raw nature that Tahoe trails have to offer.

When asked why he chose to support MBOSC and our Caletti campaign, Dave spoke up about the need for sustainable trail stewardship. "Mountain biking makes me really happy, and integral to the adventure and magic of it is having good trails to ride. Trails don't just happen on their own, they must be built and maintained. We have to advocate for trails if we want them, and MBOSC does this vital work. Also, I love the craft and artistry of hand made bike frames, so when I saw the campaign I knew I wanted to support it."

So, which frame will he get? Dave hasn't had a Caletti before, and he's thinking that a burly gravel bike would be a nice complement to the other bikes in his quiver. "I like the idea of riding a less capable bike than my full suspension and getting into the zone on easier trails. Being able to go on a road tour adventure, and then hopping onto some flowy dirt or fire trail sounds pretty great. Also, having a custom bike that really fits is a revelation, especially if you don't have typical body proportions like me."

A custom gravel bike sounds pretty sweet to us. Congratulations, Dave! We hope to see you out on the trails soon.
