Ohlone Trail Reroute!
July 24, 2017
We are excited to announce that we have kicked off a new project with the City of Santa Cruz in the Pogonip Open Space Preserve; Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz is working with the city’s High School Trail Crew to reroute the Ohlone Trail! MBOSC performed the trail design and will be overseeing construction.
The original route of this trail follows a steep, fall-line alignment that is prone to erosion and that is not very pleasant to walk on. The reroute will bypass the steep fall line section of trail and provide a pleasant hiking experience. The trail travels through pristine oak and redwood forest.
This pedestrian-only trail project is indicative of MBOSC’s stance on improved trail access for all trail users. The trail crew will be working on the trail Monday-Friday from 8:30am-2:00pm. Volunteer help would be much appreciated! Email [email protected] if you are interested in helping out!
