ONE WEEK LEFT! Write a Letter & Support Trails at Cotoni-Coast Dairies

March 27, 2020

Hey there, folks! Giving you a quick reminder to get your letters in to the BLM within the week (the deadline is April 3!) so you can make your voice heard regarding land use and management within Cotoni-Coast Dairies (CCD). CCD is a 6,000-acre property just north of Wilder Ranch State Park, and provides critical coastal connection to upcoming trails in San Vicente Redwoods. It’s imperative that the mountain biking and outdoor community write letters in support of trail development on this property!

Below, we’ve pulled together additional details on the property and resources for you to use as you write your letter. What better way to spend a quarantined evening than writing a letter to impact the trails you’ll get to use in the future? We hope you submit a letter to speak up for trails, and thank you if you already have!

You can find MBOSC's sample letter here and read through our recommendations for this property. Submitting a comment is easy - you can either sign our letter and email it to the address at the top of the page, or you can write your own unique letter to share your opinions. Unique letters are weighted more heavily in the decision-making process, and are more impactful than a signed sample letter. We encourage supporters to write a unique letter to make an even bigger impact! Unique letters can pull from MBOSC’s pre-approved talking points linked here.

    • Letters can be submitted electronically at https://go.usa.gov/xEJAw, sent via email to [email protected], shared by fax to 831-582-2266, or mailed to the BLM Central Coast Field Office, Attn: Cotoni-Coast Dairies RMPA/EA, 940 2nd Ave., Marina, CA 93933-6009.

This is the second of three opportunities for public input on the management and use of this property. Note that you MUST participate in the Public Scoping Period (which closed last July) and/or Public Comment Period (which closes on April 3) in order to participate in the Public Protest Period (the next step of the process when the BLM shares a final property plan).

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on local trails on the Santa Cruz coast, and it takes just minutes to participate. What are you waiting for? Send in a letter today to help secure access to this land for generations to come.
