Recap: 9/9/23 Cotoni-Coast Dairies Dig Day

September 14, 2023
Dig Days are back for the season!

Location: Cotoni-Coast Dairies // Weather: Mostly Sunny + quick rain shower

Volunteers: 45 // Volunteer Hours: 270 // Work: Trail polishing + rock armoring

Sponsored by: SCOR MTB // Hospitality by: Kellys French Bakery & Togos Scotts Valley

What an awesome first Dig Day back after a quick break over the summer! We had a bunch of first-time Dig Day-ers come out and it was also great to see a handful of SCMTS Members in attendance. Our new Trail Stewardship Coordinator, Mati, got a taste of her first Dig Day while Katie T. led her final Dig Day as she is moving on from the role (you'll probably still see her at some Dig Days).

The groups spread out across nearly 2 miles of trail. Most volunteers tackled tread work where they cleaned up and made improvements to the existing trail. Others worked on rock armoring a portion of accessible trail—they moved ~25,000 lbs of rock! We also got a little rain shower during lunch which was a welcome surprise.

Once wrapped up with trail work, everyone headed back to home base for cold beverages and a big raffle. SCOR MTB also had some demo bikes to check out and Trail Crew Leader, Lyn, liked them so much he almost rode away on one...Thank you to everyone who came out—see you next time!
