San Vicente Redwoods Trails Given the Green Light!

September 12, 2019
We are very excited to announce that the California Coastal Commission gave its okay for the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County’s plan to build 38 miles of trails at San Vicente Redwoods at its meeting on Tuesday the 9th! If there is no lawsuit filed against the Coastal Commission’s findings, we plan to be putting shovels to dirt building the first phase of the trail network early in 2020. Thank you to everyone who voiced their support for this project to the Coastal Commission. The Commission received over 400 comments, with only a half-dozen or so opposed. This should serve as a reminder to us all that every individual has a voice in the public process and that together we can enact positive change. This momentous occasion is the pinnacle of a huge mountain of work put in by the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County and its conservation partners to bring this project to fruition. We at Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz were fortunate enough to play a small role in the process by performing the trail network design in partnership with the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship. We are beyond excited to be leading the charge on trail construction! Please stay tuned to learn how you can help!
