Santa Cruz County Cycling Club Highlights

October 14, 2019
Santa Cruz is home to many cyclists, cycling advocates, groups, and clubs. We wanted to give a shoutout to our friends at the Santa Cruz County Cycling Club (SCCCC). MBOSC is excited to partner with SCCCC and share information through our social media platforms. We will share event information, safe riding initiatives, clinics and other information to promote cycling in Santa Cruz County, a mutual goal of each organization. Founded in 1971, SCCCC is a 501c(3) non-profit whose mission is to educate and promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling. You may not know that SCCCC hosts weekly group rides for all levels, and produces the Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge each year. Below is a list of some of the awesome work they are doing:
  • Offers organized weekly road rides for all riding levels. Club membership not required. Click here for a calendar of rides.
    • For an explanation of ride levels, click here.
  • Produces the Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge each July. Course mileage ranges from 45 miles to 127 miles (with 12,500 ft of elevation gain). Proceeds go to non-profit community outreach cycling programs in SC County. Click here to learn more.
  • Offers League of American Bicyclists (LAB) Smart Cycling clinics. Clinics are led by LAB certified League Cycling Instructors (LCIs). Emphasis is on development of safe riding skills. For more info, email [email protected].
  • Offers Cycling for Beginners (road and commute) and Mountain Biking for Beginners clinics. To learn more, email [email protected].
  • Club participation in cycling events throughout the SF Bay Area (e.g. The Mt Diablo Cycling Challenge http://www.mountdiablochallenge.org/)
