We are extremely proud to announce that our latest "Support Trails & Win a Hakka" campaign in partnership with Ibis Cycles and Easton Cycling raised $19,485 to support Santa Cruz area trails!
We set out with the goal of raising $19,000 with this campaign, and we're thrilled that together we beat the goal by almost $500. That is going to help us build and maintain even more trails for you to ride. Thank you to everybody who contributed to this campaign. We achieved this success together, and we're happy to share this win with you!
One person in particular is especially happy right now, because they're the owner of a brand new
Ibis Hakka MX...
Introducing the lucky winner... Gabriel Jones!

It's always a fun day when we get to contact an MBOSC supporter to let them know they won a bike. When we contacted Gabe, his reaction made it clear that he was
stoked: "What?!?! HOLY COW!!!! YES YES YES!!! This is amazing, THANK YOU!!! HAHAhaha I never win anything :-)" Well Gabe, you won something this time!
Gabe lives right here in Scotts Valley, so he knows how great our local trails are. Gabe participates in local cycling events, and he supports local trails and open spaces by being a member of MBOSC and holding a California State Parks Annual Pass with his family. As Gabe says, "we are all so very fortunate to live in such a beautiful and diverse area. I think it’s important to support the people that help build the trails and preserve access to our open spaces."
Gabe grew up riding singletrack and fire roads in Wilder Ranch and UCSC, and they are still his favorite places to ride. He says winning an Ibis Hakka is "a surreal feeling. I think the last thing I won was a door prize at Christmas party… 20 years ago." He didn't tell us what the door prize was, but we're willing to bet he's more excited about the Hakka MX than whatever it was!
This will be Gabe's first Ibis, and he's excited to get it into the dirt. "I’ve been exploring the Big Basin Loop from the
Old Growth Classic. With its steep climbs, gravel fire road, and technical sections, it will be the perfect place to ride my shiny new Hakka." With a ride like that, it won't be shiny for long, but gravel bikes are meant to get dirty!
Thanks again to everybody who supported this campaign, and a special shoutout to
Ibis and
Easton for being strong partners of MBOSC. All of us at MBOSC are grateful for the support, and this campaign will help us stay busy building more trails for you to ride!
