Emma McCrary Trail

Completed in 2013

SCMTS' first-ever trail consists of 2+ miles of singletrack for cyclists, equestrians and hikers in Pogonip.

In March 2012, SCMTS received approval to begin construction of a 2-mile multi-use trail on the east side of the City of Santa Cruz’s Pogonip park. That was just the beginning of the 35+ miles of trail that SCMTS now stewards throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The Emma McCrary Trail provides access from Golf Club Drive to U-Con Trail leading to the UC Santa Cruz campus and connects Downtown Santa Cruz and the east side of Santa Cruz to upper UCSC and Wilder Ranch State Park.

SCMTS worked closely with the Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department on the trail’s design and construction. The city hired MBOSC Trails Officer Drew Perkins to manage trail construction which began May 2012 and was completed June 1, 2013. More than 300 volunteers donated over 3,500 hours to complete the trail. SCMTS raised over $30,000 with large donations coming from the local bike industry, including FOX, Bell, Specialized, Santa Cruz Bicycles and Ibis Cycles.

Emma McCrary Trail is currently adopted by Giro. To learn more about pumptrack and trail adoption click on the button below.
