Santa Clara County Parks hired us to build Ojo de Agua Trail as one of the final pieces needed to unlock public access at their Coyote Canyon property, which is expected to open later this year.
Creating New Access
The trail will welcome cyclists, hikers, and equestrians to the new 2,741-acre property at the foothills of the Diablo Mountain Range. It will connect with the planned Coyote Ridge Trail and the Woodland Trail to form a multi-use loop of approximately 5 miles.
Leave the car behind!
This new access means that visitors can now explore Anderson Lake County Park, Henry Coe State Park, and Coyote Lake - Harvey Bear Ranch County Park via trails alone.
The proposed trail name in Spanish translates to “Eye of Water,” and maintains a link with the Property history as it was part of the Rancho Ojo de Agua de la Coche land grant.
Project Funds Support More Trail Work
Funding for this trail construction comes from the remaining acquisition fund that was originally used to purchase the property in 2016. The project also generates support for underfunded public trails projects in the Santa Cruz Mountains, as all revenue from Ojo de Agua will be channeled into SCMTS’ nonprofit trail work and volunteer events.
