Cotoni-Coast Dairies Wins! Parking Lot Approval, 2025 Opening
Just this week, the Bureau of Land Management approved a project to build a northern parking area and trailhead for the first nine miles of trail on the property that we’ve built out with your support over the past three years. Our Trail Crew and volunteers have been working on CCD trails since late 2021, and are nearly done constructing beginner, intermediate, and advanced loops for hikers and cyclists to enjoy. This approval is the final step in enabling public access and seeing the result of our community’s hard work.
With this most recent decision, the property will open to the public in summer of 2025.
This decision provides swift momentum to Cotoni-Coast Dairies’ challenging access timeline. Any appeals to the BLM’s most recent approval will not affect the public’s access to the trails; they will only delay the construction of trailhead parking resources. Should an appeal appear, the Cotoni-Coast Dairies trails will open to the public with expanded roadside parking and pedestrian gates rather than a formal parking lot.
The Cotoni-Coast Dairies property is stunning, and we’re thrilled to welcome the public to explore and appreciate the beauty and history of this local gem. More Trails on the Horizon
Following the completion of the northern trail network, we will begin construction of 10 more miles of trail at a southern access point on the Cotoni-Coast Dairies property. These trails will bring new outdoor access to hikers and equestrians, and provide essential ADA trail access in the region.
